Mundane Musings on Saros Series 121

So I was just casting my eye back on eclipses in Saros series 121 (which the Feb 17th annular solar eclipse is a part of) over the last century to see if I could find any themes on a mundane level.Of course the harsher events stood out to me--they included extreme weather events that were often deadly, aviation milestones (including aircraft launches and crashes), and deadly shootings & bombings.

There was also a curious repetition of high-ranking officials getting arrested and/or investigated for scandals.Ukraine featured prominently around the December 1917 eclipse as the collapse of the Russian Empire led to the triggering of Ukraine's War of Independence.

There were tech advances throughout most of them, and a smattering of *major* policy speeches sprinkled in there, too (like the US Sec of State John Foster Dulles introducing the "massive retaliation" doctrine as a cornerstone of President Eisenhower’s foreign policy strategy to rely on nuclear deterrence in global conflict rather than maintaining a large, permanent conventional forces around the world such as was used in the Korean War).

This is all based on looking at events from the same series dating back to 1917. (So December 1917, December 1935, January 1954, January 1972, and February 2008 to date.)Interestingly, there is what is called an exeligmos (turning of the wheel) that happens every 54 years and 34 days & where the Saros series returns to about the same geographic region every third eclipse in the series. So the Feb 17th eclipse belongs to the exeligmos that includes 1917 and 1972.You could actually go back to include November 1863. This was the height of the US Civil War and when Abraham Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address just over 1 week after the solar eclipse.

That speech was instrumental in redefining the purpose of the war between Unionists and Confederates. So you can probably see where I'm going with this. We've already heard Sec of State Rubio's speech in Munich and the attempt to redefine the shape of power in the world.I'm hoping we can avoid any further shootings of protesters given the tragic deaths in the US last month.

Same goes for any aviation woes. Not sure if the weather in the US or UK since the new year counts as extreme, but again, hopefully what has been already experienced is the worst of it!I'll certainly take the arrests of ANY high-ranking officials in the US or UK in connection to the Epstein files--but I won't hold my breath.Anyway, that's a rabbit-hole I went down earlier today, so I thought I would share!

Addendum I: The eclipses in 1863, 1917, and 1954 were all part of the Jupiter-Saturn Great Conjunctions in Earth. To me that suggests societal changes happening at a base, fundamental level that results in changes in resourcing and material circumstances. So this is a new cycle starting with the GC having happened in Air (at the end of 2020).

This might mean that the shifts are meant to happen on a more mental level. Goodness knows we have the resources we need but I think it is HOW we allocate those resources that needs to be sorted out.The leverage of FEAR on the cognitive level is currently at the heart of how power controls (whereas previously it was the leverage of who had the most resources to draw on).

It's worth noting that Neptune was in Aries for the 1863 eclipse, in Leo for the 1917 eclipse, and in Sag for the 1972 eclipse--so all Fire signs. This is making me wonder about the push for a different vision, a different vision that Neptune in Fire brings and connects further with the idea of Neptune symbolizing a collective Moon of sorts that I wrote about the other day.

Addendum II: I saw on Threads a post from the esoteric butcher about how the US & Iran nuclear talks in Geneva were scheduled to start just before this eclipse.

It’s interesting to note that if we focus on the eclipses in the same exeligmos, then we can see there were high-level talks in December 1917 as Russia prepared to withdraw from WWI on the back of the Bolshevik coup the previous month. Unfortunately, these talks between Russia and the Central Powers did not go smoothly and although a 30-day armistice was signed on 15 December 1917 halting the fighting, the negotiations were immediately fraught with intense disputes over territorial concessions & propaganda, setting the stage for harsh, dictated terms.

In January 1954, talks in Berlin & discussions in Geneva centered on Western involvement in Korea and Indochina, and the possibility of reuniting the Korean peninsula that had been torn asunder just 9 years prior (so this was a nodal reversal of that event). Sadly, we know the outcome was negative as current maps still reflect the division of North Korea and South Korea. Nevertheless, these early 1954 talks collectively marked a crucial period of diplomatic maneuvering to shift from active conflict in Korea to a managed—albeit tense—Cold War landscape.

January 1972 was a pivotal month for international diplomacy & industrial relations—dominated by the lead-up to US-China normalization, secret Vietnam peace talks, and major strikes in Britain. The groundwork laid in January 1972 for US President Nixon’s historic trip to China ensured the signing of the Shanghai Communiqué the following month. The secret Vietnam peace talks initiated in January 1972 were not frutiful until October 1972 but did result in the Paris Peace Accords signed in January 1973.

And finally, the National Union of Mineworkers first national strike since 1926 lasted for seven weeks & brought severe energy shortages to Britain. The government of Conservative Prime Minister Edward Heath was forced to implement a 3-day working week as a result and eventually conceded to a substantial pay-increase for the miners.

So it will be interesting to say the least to see what the US & Iran talks produce in the end.
