Goddess Kali & Kali Puja

Today Bengalis celebrate Kali, the Hindu goddess of fierece compassion & destruction. The puja coincides with the dawning of the new moon day of the Hindu calendar month of Ashwayuja or Kartika. As a goddess of both hope and mystery, light and darkness, she reminds her devotees to look for blessings in the face of despair.
