Aries New Moon 2026

Today's Aries New Moon is one humdinger of a lunation as it is co-present with not only its domicile ruler, but its exaltation ruler, as well as 3 other planets if we count Neptune.

The 12th Part of this moon falls in the 29th degree of Aquarius--signifying that something is on the cusp of change.

And this lunation rules an exalted Jupiter that is squaring it--albeit widely/by sign.

I know many astrologers have delineated their takes on what all this means, so here's me adding to that pile :)

To start, we have to understand that transiting conjunctions are seeding moments. They herald the birth of something new--the flow of potentiality and potent manifestation.

The darkness of the Moon becomes the empty cup that allows itself to be filled with light/knowledge/truth of the Sun. In Aries, there is an energy of starting anew, of a fresh beginning that is full-steam ahead and full of vim & vigor.

When we weave in its 12th Part in Aquarius, we are seeing how this New Moon holds the potency of fragmentation and rebuilding that comes from being in an anaretic degree. In the sign of Aquarius, this could speak to a shift in how we think societally, how we conceptualize the dissemination of information, and how we manage the architecture of society as a whole.

Interestingly, the Sabian Symbol for this Aries New Moon is "A Large Disappointed Audience" and ain't that the truth given the awful news that has been pouring out over the last several hours, days, and weeks!

"This Symbol shows a sense of being an observer or a spectator, sometimes more than being a participant. [But the] 'Audience' sometimes only remembers the last performance, so get up and try again. Be aware that you may be your own 'audience'." (From: https://sabiansymbols.com/list-of-symbols/ )

We can certainly feel how the build-up to this new moon speaks to the description above. That feeling of powerlessness, of having to drag yourself up again despite the oppressive atmosphere pushing so many of us down.

In Isidore Kozminsky's Zodiacal Symbology and Its Planetary Power (1917), this degree describes "one gifted with mental and moral strength, power, and forcefulness, who brings hope to many a sad or fearful heart."

To my mind, both descriptions speak aptly to the moment at hand: a reckoning of the world we live in and how moral fortitude and courage must prevail in knocking down the last vestiges of the cultural thoughts & behavior that enobles violence and "power over" instead of "power with"...

Aries leadership may look like the former, but in order to be sustained, it must be the latter. This is clearly spelled out through the polarity pairing of Aries (independence) with Libra (cooperation).

The 12th Parts of the lunation's sign rulers are both in Air, speaking to the shift that takes place on the mental plane.

Jupiter squaring the lunation finds its 12th Part in Capricorn, along with the 12th Parts of the asteroid Pallas and the planet Venus. Squares denote action, and the action here seems to be getting fed by a Jupiter in exile, sure, but supported by the asteroid of strategic thinking and the planet of relational understanding.

Exalted Jupiter in Cancer might speak to emotional security! emphasis on comfort & safety! compassionate growth! on the surface--but the 12th Part in Capricorn is showing how we only get there when we are disciplined/strategic/temper our optimism with pragmatism.

I think the good news is how we see the 12th Parts of Venus and Pallas supporting those very points. The 12th Part of Venus in Capricorn wants a grounded, serious, and committed approach to love, feeding the 'visible' Venus in Taurus that we see in the lunation chart.

The 12th Part of Pallas in Capricorn describes the asteroid's energy of strategic wisdom coming through focused, methodical work. The 'visible' Pallas in Pisces might speak to an organizing principle that is fed through the emotions, but the 12th Part in Capricorn supports the understanding of the work that is needed to get to where we would like to go.

I do think the other asteroid goddesses are also loud in this lunation chart. The 12th Part of Juno is conjunct Pallas in the radix chart, perhaps speaking to how strategic thinking will get a boost in this upcoming cycle through Juno's role as what astrologer Lianne McCafferty describes as "the power broker."

And while we find Vesta and Ceres in Pisces and Taurus respectively (indicating perhaps the groundswell of 'feminine' power both through material and emotional means), we find the 12th Parts of both hanging out with each other in Libra. I've been positing for a while that Libra is not just about peace, but about war, too (I find a lot of connections to the military and soldiering through this sign).

So in addition to the Air element being activated in the background, we get a sense of the pressure to "restore the balance of justice" that these 12th Parts seem to be indicating. And notice how they are more or less opposite Mars and Saturn in the lunation chart: I think this may speak to an invisible but rising force of reckoning that stems from the righteousness of Ceres and the integrity of Vesta.

There is always more to say, but I'll stop here for now given how long this has become. I will just add that the Aries New Moon is conjunct Chiron in the radix and the 12th Part of Uranus also. I recently heard an astrologer describe Chiron as a "cosmic accountant" which resonated deeply with me.  So this lunation is sowing the seeds for a reckoning--and the invisible energy of the 12th Part of Uranus is further feeding this new moon with a sense of being the maverick--of non-conformist & unconventional ways to deal with the situation at hand.

Wishing you all the blessings of this new moon as they arise. May it be so.
