Scorpio Full Moon 2026

The Scorpio Full Moon occurs at 18:21 BST in Greenwich, UK on 1 May 2026. This is also the day when Beltane is officially celebrated (with festivities often starting the night before) and marks the peak of Spring/the start of Summer.

When we look at the flow of energy  in this lunation, the first thing to note is that it falls in the second decan of Scorpio. Kira Ryberg tells us that "it is here where desire breeds mutual satisfaction in a best scenario and mutual torment in a worst case scenario...But it can also breed the truest of loves, and purest of pleasures, a mutual satisfaction where each party reciprocates the effort and love of the other." These words bring up a vibe of collaboration, teamwork, and joint efforts--and perhaps a sense of 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.'

Despite the surface 'reserve' indicated by Scorpio, the sign is actually a very social one. The night-time significations of Mars elucidates this through its significations of protection and strategic focus--both qualities that become paramount around the people and values Mars chooses to safeguard/defend/secure.

The full moon is ruled by Mars in the diurnal domicile of Aries and this might signify a certain strengthening of the Martian aspects of people & events in our lives and in the news. It is worth underlining here that Mars is not only a fighter but a protector as well. Echoing the decan placement described above, the impetus being channeled here is likely more of the latter rather than the former.

It is also worth noting that the Moon, Sun, and Mars are all in the bounds of Mercury. In her fabulous "Bounds Guidebook", the astrologer Kira Ryberg notes that "the combination of Mercury and Mars makes for a sharper mind and planets...placed [in this bound] will tend to feel invigorated with a more active energy." This might speak to a certain decisiveness around Mercurial things like communication and other forms of exchange. It could also indicate not only a kind of 'fast' intelligence, but also motivations with an underlying agenda and in some cases, impure intentions.

Still, Ryberg goes on to say that Mars in this bound combined with the indications of Aries Decan II could "lead to someone using their personal influence to speak up for those who are not as fortunate as themselves." She goes on to point out that "the tools that a planet has at its disposal in Mercury's bounds will often look like microphones, pens, laptops, money, the ability to barter and the gift of the gab."

If we examine the Moon in Mercury's bound in Scorpio, Ryberg tells us "these degrees are...prolific and fecund" and that "this is the bound of the passionate writer, the devoted sorcerer, the military general, and the rap battle extraordinaire." So again, we hear the power of communicating one's thoughts and desires--so important in this whirlwind of history where a new world is trying to emerge.

So look for these pieces in your life around you as well as in the news in the wider world as the full moon culminates and in the days after.

We should also note that despite the Moon being in "fall" in Scorpio (opposite their "exaltation" in Taurus), the Moon does have triplicity dignity in this Fixed Water sign. So in addition to Mars as domicile ruler, it behooves us to pay attention to what Venus and Mars are doing as triplicity rulers in this chart as well.

Triplicity rulership was described by the ancient Roman astrologer, Manilius, as a "federation" and by the astrologer Dorotheus of Sidon as ongoing assistance, support, and protection. In the lunation chart, Mars is able to 'see' Venus by sextile. This aspect implies opportunities and cooperation to me.

Admittedly, Venus is peregrine and does not have a Ptolemaic aspect of sight to her bound ruler (and only a sign aspect to her domicile ruler) nor an aspect to the Moon. In fact, neither trip lord can actually see the Moon or the Sun.

This is where we need to see if that energy is mediated by another planet, and in this case, Mars is square an exalted Jupiter who is also sextile the Sun and trine the Moon. So now we have a Jupiterian influence on this lunation (and we'll see shortly how this is further reinforced by the Moon's 12th Part).

Jupiter is rolling into their own terms in the sign of their exaltation, so this is a particularly potent placement. Jupiterian significations around abundance and possibility abound in this term. Jupiter's mediating influence can be said to bring a certain openness to other emotional points of view and to other understandings of memories, for example. Equally, there can be a doubling-down of tribal beliefs and philosophies, and a certain self-righteousness exerted that is then translated by the Moon into our material world.

Still, be on the lookout for martial impulses that take on the flavour of inclusion and cooperation--Jupiter is the planet of synthesis and syncretisation, after all!

Finally, a quick look at the 12th Parts of this full moon paints an extraordinary picture related to all that has been shared to this point.

The 12th Part of the Moon falls in Pisces! The Jupiterian influence in the radix chart is now echoed with this placement. We could say that the underlying energy of this full moon is one of awareness of the cosmic, of themes that transcend the ordinary, and of values that inform our identity as humans.

If we look at the 12th Parts of the other "major" players in this lunation, we find Mars in Libra--again echoing that cooperative approach to justice. Jupiter is in Aquarius, speaking to the desire for growth in humanitarian affairs and perhaps beliefs in social progress. Interestingly, Venus and the Sun are both in Virgo--there's an underlying energy of careful accounting, of paying attention to details, and of an anxiety to "get it right."

In my understanding of the 12th Parts, these placements provide a background vitality and dynamism to the radix chart placements. And it's quite beautiful to see how they contribute to the bigger picture of a full moon--happening on the day where many cultures celebrate the peak of Spring/the start of Summer--speaking to a kind of shift in how we engage (Scorpio) with both our inner world (Moon) and outer reality (Sun), and the forms that the bridge (Jupiter) between those two planes might take.

Wishing you all the blessings of this Scorpio Full Moon and a Happy Beltane to all who celebrate!
