Trouble Brewing for UK PM Starmer
Interesting to note that the British elections are scheduled for Thursday, 7th May 2026, and that Pluto will station Rx the day before at 5°30’ Aquarius.
This pops even more when we note that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s natal Saturn placement is retrograde and falls at roughly 5°51’ Aquarius (his birth chart is untimed).
Certainly Pluto applying to his natal Saturn is stirring things up. Starmer’s Chief of Staff, Morgan McSweeney, resigned yesterday, followed the the resignation of the Starmer’s Director of Communications, Tim Allan.
Despite the lack of an official birth-time, Saturn as a slow-moving planet means we can meaningfully make delineations around it vis-a-vis his natal chart.
Whilst there is enormous pressure on Starmer at the moment, one wonders if the resignations of 2 prominent allies staves off his own departure for the moment.
Given the Pluto station happening conjunct Starmer’s natal Saturn and the timing of the British May elections, one also wonders if the results strikes some kind of big blow to his premiership.
Clearly the natal Saturn Rx being more or less conjunct the South Node has something to say as well. But in order to understand it properly, we need to understand what the nodal axis is saying first.
In my research of the nodes through the signs, North Node in Leo tends to indicate a desire for the spotlight, to be “king.” A desire to belong and be recognised on one’s own terms. It could also speak to a paradoxical longing for the limelight and a fear of it as well. The South Node in Aquarius suggests possible issues with abandonment and loneliness. Impostor syndrome can appear with this placement despite the drive for mastery.
Saturn conjunct the South Node can indicate a condition or need to reject material indulgences in favour of more immaterial leanings (remember that Saturn can signify mysticism as well).
The astrologer Michael Reed says “Ketu suppresses an important piece that can be found through Rahu, but once found, that piece needs to be integrated through Ketu.”
If we apply this in the case of Starmer, could it be that his pursuit of being a leader, of being on centre-stage (North Node in Leo) is being challenged by this double-tap (Saturn & South Node) that requires a rejection of an existence centred on material whims?
I’m sure there are other ways to delineate this, but I am throwing this out there for the sake of discussion—I would love to hear others’ views!
The final point I would make is that with the February solar eclipse we see the start of Starmer’s nodal reversal. This will be a challenging time for him and having Pluto hovering around his Saturn and impacting his nodal axis will not be easy—we are already seeing. (I have done a talk on the importance of nodal returns, reversals, and squares that you can find on my website if you would like to hear more.)
