Nodal Reversals in US History to 1860

Although Bush Sr's invasion of Panama was 36 years ago, as we can see from the comparison charts, it's not quite a full nodal return of that event.

However, there are other notable links we can see astrologically between the 2 events, including the Cancer activation by Jupiter where the US Sibley chart has its natal Sun, Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury .The Cap stelliums in the case of both invasions are also striking as they seem to be a nod to the Sibley Chart's natal Pluto placement (with Pluto indicating power-plays, de-conditioning of what is seen to be normal/acceptable, and underground wealth).

My main concern from a lunar node standpoint is what happens as the US begins its nodal reversal in July 2026. A cursory look at nodal reversals in US history—starting with the first one in 1785 up to 1860—are very revealing, in my opinion.

Note how the natal Sun and Jupiter placements in the US chart are triggered in both invasions.

Here's a quick run down based on general nodal reversals (so when the transiting SN comes to the US chart's natal NN by sign)—and even in some cases, by month: November 1785 marked a transition period under the Articles of Confederation--a time when the nascent nation was struggling with foreign relations, debt, & establishing authority.

The natal lunar nodes for the US falls in the 3H-9H axis, and speaks to (among other things) the tensions between the Ketu restricted flow of information in the domestic environment versus the Rahu ambitions in the wider, international context.

In May 1804, the Lewis and Clark Expedition went past the last white settlement in present-day Missouri—allowing the pair to collect valuable information & insights in their exploration of Louisiana Purchase territory from the year before.

1823 was the year President Monroe announced that the US would oppose new European colonization & interference in the Americas that came to be known as the Monroe Doctrine. This was in response to newly independent Latin American nations emerging & Russian expansionist claims. However, the Roosevelt Corollary, as then President Theodore Roosevelt’s State of the Union to Congress on December 6, 1904 became known, took this doctrine further.

The corollary took the doctrine from a defensive shield into an justification for U.S. intervention and dominance in Latin America and a tool for unilateral US power projection, instead of simple protection. Roosevelt was particularly drawn to the prospect of having raw materials for US benefit and markets for US goods.

Note transiting Pluto conjunct the natal US Mars speaking to these very points. And transiting Saturn in the Sibley 3H (local space) speaks to the idea of the US being a ‘policeman’ of sorts as the corollary stated the US intention of claiming the role of a regional enforcer, using military force to stabilize nations and ensure they met obligations (certainly Saturnian keywords).

It is interesting to note that the current invasion of Venezuela is a nodal reversal of this corollary! (I tend to see nodal squares—where the transiting nodes square the natal nodal axis—as being pivotal in terms of events and actions on a personal level, but I think on a mundane level this is more apparent with the nodal reversals).

1841 was when Vice President John Tyler took office following the sudden death of President William Henry Harrison of pneumonia, just 31 days into this term of office.

Tyler's bold move to assert himself as President & not just an "Acting President" (the Tyler Precedent) resolved constitutional ambiguity at that point in time regarding succession in case of death and went on to become standard practice. He was said to have arrived at dawn on April 4, 1841 at his rooms in the Indian Queen Hotel in Washington, DC and have been sworn in later that morning.

Even if we ignore the angular points in the outside transit chart of the moment, we still can see the nodal reversal in the 3H-9H axis. What is also notable is the transiting Sun opposite the Sibley Chart Saturn in the 11H, representing an assertion of power in opposition to the sitting assembly. Indeed, the Tyler’s alienation of his own Whig party-led Congress led to his derogatory dubbing of “His Accidency”. Interestingly, Tyler believed that the Executive should set policy, not Congress (sound like anyone we know?!), hence his seeking out of bypassing the Whig establishment.

Finally, on April 23, 1860, the Democratic National convention began in Charleston, SC----a pivotal event that eventually led to the party's split & ultimately facilitated the election of Abraham Lincoln which then led to the start of the US Civil War.

The convention was called to order at noon on April 23, 1860—the day of the exact nodal reversal for the US. If we associate slavery generally with teh 6H, we can see how the presence of transiting Sun spotlights this topic and the presence of transiting Pluto indicates the power-plays that follow this discussion. The convention ended in a stalemate and an adjournment without a nominee.

This fracturing of the Democratic vote ultimately paved the way for the Republican candidate, Abraham Lincoln, to win the presidency in November 1860, an event that directly led to the secession of Southern states and the outbreak of the American Civil War.

So you can see how these periods of nodal reversal play directly into historical events of consequence, and would be well worth are while to study and parse as best we can. They clearly point to policies/events that have larger ramifications as time goes on.

Looking at these specific circumstances up to 1860 really do seem to mirror much of where the US finds itself today. I will be doing further research on this, but certainly my mind was blown by seeing so many parallels between the past and now.
